Kerbstone Series

How do we perceive time when its very nature equates to eternal change?

Our geologic past is nearly incomprehensible compared to our organic lives yet we have always endeavoured to preserve that which is important to us, often using our geology as a material to transport us through time. This ‘Kerbstone Series’ is a meditation on the physical essence of time and creation presenting the viewer with hidden stories of our past.

I am drawn to our human interaction and manipulation of geology in particular stone, and how information can be documented and stored within it over millennia. Inspired by prehistoric Irish rock art that reflects on our ancestors’ ancient iconography I have created a new series of limited edition relief and screen prints that echo these ancient markings. Utilising personal field recordings from the Newgrange and Knowth and other Irish prehistoric sites this collection reimagines the mysterious symbology of the original mark markers.
